The SDF south of Deir Ezzor launched a surprise mass attack against Isis in Hajin. Meanwhile, the Coalition targets the Islamic State in Susah, Safafinah and Masashidah
The SDF south of Deir Ezzor launch a surprise offensive against Isis in Hajin. Operation Round Up (Jazeera Storm) troops have started a mass attack on the Islamic State stronghold. This is targeted from the north, east and southeast. At the moment violent clashes are taking place between Syrian fighters and Daesh jihadists in several external suburbs of the city. Moreover, the area was closed in a siege, in order to prevent mass escapes, but at the same time facilitate the evacuation of the civilian population. In fact, in the last days the inhabitants had been advised of the maneuvers with launches of leaflets, in which they were invited to leave the quadrant as soon as possible. Meanwhile, the US-led Coalition carried out bombings on Susah, Safafinah and Masashidah. This is to help the south axis of the Arab-Kurdish force, which is attacking the three locations simultaneously.
The Syrian army (SAA) in Suweida receives a Daesh ultimatum: Stop the operation in Al-Safa within 3 days or weâll kill all the hostages kidnapped in July
Meanwhile, the Syrian army (SAA) can’t solve the impasse against Isis in eastern Suweida. The Damascus soldiers are advancing slowly, and Daesh militiamen still have control of some areas of Al-Safa. In addition, they began to execute civilian prisoners, kidnapped in July. So far, the jihadists of the Islamic State have killed two, but threaten to assassinate the entire group of women and children if within three days the offensive of the SAA won’t stop. Moreover, they asked for the release of their companions. The operation to free the quadrant has been ongoing for two months, but it still can’t be completed. This is due to the lack of knowledge of the territory by the troops and because of its morphological conformation, which helps the terrorists. So much so that the successes so far are mainly due to the intervention of the local population.
