Syria, the SDF attack Isis also at Sousa in the south of Deir Ezzor

The SDF south of Deir Ezzor attack Isis also at Sousa. Operation Round Up has launched the offensive against the stronghold of the Islamic State while at Baghuz the defensive lines of Daesh have collapsed

The SDF south of Deir Ezzor attack Isis at Sousa too. The forces of Operation Round Up (Jazeera Storm) have reached the gates of the stronghold of the Islamic State and have started to attack. Meanwhile, the Syrian fighters are advancing further against Daesh on the main road of Baghuz. The Arab-Kurdish troops have conquered most of the city centre and have divided it in two. This led to the collapse of the defensive lines of the jihadists, who now attack in a disorderly and uncoordinated manner, relying mainly on snipers, mines and improvised explosive devices (IED) to slow down the enemy’s movements. So that now they are fighting in the heart of the city and the SDF managed to install 12 secure posts. An important contribution to the maneuvers has come from the French or US artillery of the International Coalition, which carried out bombardments targeted on the fortifications of the militiamen.

At Hajin and Sha’fah Syrian fighters are proceeding with caution, fortifying all the spaces left by Isis and carrying the fleeing civilians safely to the Al-Bahra camp

Also at Hajin and Sha’Fah fighting is going on but in the outskirts. The SDF are continuing to proceed with caution against Isis, clearing and fortifying every space taken away from the Islamic State. This not to allow jihadists to win them back with surprise actions. Moreover, the Syrian fighters are accommodating refugees from besieged cities and escorting them to safe places. Only in the last hours hundreds of persons escaping from the Islamic State have been brought and accommodated at the camp of the Al-Bahra village to be cured and fed. The situation in the quadrant is increasingly dramatic for Daesh. All the attempts to counterattack and the tactics adopted to slow down Operation Round Up, are proving vain. This is confirmed by the balance of the losses, which show very few members of the Arab-Kurdish troops killed, against dozens of IS members. The same for the wounded.
