The SDF advance against Isis within Hajin. Jazeera Storm drives out the Islamic State from Al-Hawamah, the market and hospital areas in the stronghold at Deir Ezzor
The SDF are advancing against Isis in Hajin. Operation Round Up (Jazeera Storm) troops have already conquered the suburb of Al-Hawamah, the market area and the hospital in the stronghold of the Islamic State in Deir Ezzor. Now they are consolidating the territory taken and preparing to move further towards the most central neighborhoods. In the meantime, they defuse the quadrant from land mines and improvised bombs (IEDs), scattered by Daesh militia to slow down the enemy offensive. All the maneuvers of the Syrian fighters are covered by the close air support (CAS) provided by the International Coalition, which constantly bombs the jihadist posts, making it difficult for them to react to the attacks. This caused a large number of losses in the IS row (about dozens of elements) and the retreat towards the most central and southern districts of the city.
The Hajin offensive forced the Daesh leaders to come out into the open to escape into the MERV. Thanks to that, they became targets. In the last weeks at least 10 of high and very high profile eliminated or captured. Also by the Sand Hippos
The SDF offensive in Hajin, in addition to removing ground from Isis, also had another consequence. It brought out the leaders of the Islamic State, hidden in the stronghold at Deir Ezzor. Seeing the Syrian fighters closer and closer, they began to flee to other places. This made them traceable, and therefore obvious targets to hit. The confirmation comes from the elimination and capture of several Daesh commanders of high and very high profile, which took place in recent days. Both by Syrian fighters and Inherent Resolve. About a dozen strategic leaders neutralized in the Middle Euphrates River Valley (MERV) in the last three weeks, but could be even more. Together with the regular forces, in fact, there are the Sand Hippos that move in the area. It is a mysterious and invisible group, which in silence is hunting down terrorists’ leaders and which until now seems to have eliminated several, even if there are no official news about it.
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi himself could be hidden in Hajin. In case of confirmation and attempted escape, there are teams ready to intervene to stop the Caliph Isis
Moreover, it seems that the same Caliph Isis, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, is hidden in Deir Ezzor after fleeing Iraq following the offensive of the ISF in Qaim. According to some sources it could be hidden in Hajin. This could explain the fact that the Islamic State has directed almost all its resources to protect the city, even if there is no official confirmation of its presence in Syria or in the area. If true, it could be one of the next Daesh leaders to escape. In fact, the “eyes” and the “ears” of the intelligence carefully monitor the whole quadrant. In addition, there are special forces teams, official and not, ready to intervene at all times so as not to lose the window of opportunity. They are in stand-by with perpetual rotation, waiting only for the signal to move.
