Syria, Isis is terrified by the Sand Hippos in the south of Deir Ezzor

Sand Hippos are terrifying Isis in the south of Deir Ezzor. They are killing the leaders of the Islamic State in their cities. From Hajin to Baghuz. Probably with the help of some Daesh defectors

Isis in the south of Deir Ezzor is terrified by Sand Hippos, a mysterious group which has been operating in Syria for a while. Recently several low-level sub commanders of the Islamic State have been killed or have disappeared and in the last days the same fate has started to be inflicted to the ones at medium-level. And also inside those cities which are still controlled by Daesh: Hajin, Sha’Fah, Sousa and Baghuz. Moreover, there is a suspect that they have been helped by some defectors. To be hit by an internal enemy, without a face but lethal, and above all from within one’s own territory, is causing panic among the jihadists, already pressed by the SDF of Operation Round Up (Jazeera Storm). Within the ranks of the militia, in fact, mutual suspicion is growing, a situation which has already provoked various clashes amongst IS elements.

Meanwhile, the SDF of Operation Round Up have almost completed the liberation of Baghuz from Daesh, also thanks to the “ghosts” which are not only at Deir Ezzor and in the south of Syria. But also at Idlib

In the meantime, the SDF have almost completed the liberation of Baghuz. Also thanks to a series of surgical external actions, which many local sources attribute to the Sand Hippos. It seems that these ghosts are accurate, fast and invisible. When the inhabitants of the area mention them, they only say “Woosh”, miming a sand storm which strikes, only to disappear soon after. There are rumors, although not confirmed, that there is a kind of dialogue between the Arab-Kurdish forces and this mysterious group. This is essentially to avoid the risk of accidents of friendly fire. The Sand Hippos, however, are also expanding their area of operations. This is no longer just limited to Deir Ezzor and the south of Syria. But it even reaches Idlib in the north. Confidential sources explain that for now they are only monitoring the situation, but that they are ready to take action in case it is necessary.
