The Ukraine-Russia war revolutionizes the fighting in the skies. For the first time there was a dogfight between two Mavic, which saw the victory of the Kyiv’s drone. UAVs, in fact, at least until now were not equipped with air-to-air weapons
In Ukraine, the war with Russia has undergone a new evolution: today dogfights, aerial combat, are no longer fought between planes, but between drones. This is confirmed in the post on Twitter by Serhiy Prytula, which shows a video in which two Mavics – one from Kyiv and the other from pro-Moscow forces – fight each other in the skies with propellers. At the end of the battle, the Ukrainian UAV destroyed the opponent. The fight between drones in the skies of the European country represents a novelty in the field of aeronautics, as it has never happened so far. Not surprisingly, unmanned aircraft are not equipped with air-to-air weapons capable of hitting the enemy in flight, but only ones capable of attacking targets on the ground. Consequently, the only chance remains to ram them. Lessons learned, however, are important and it is not excluded that in the future some nation may not fill this gap as well.
