One of the top ISCAP leaders arrested in Mozambique. The man, Ali, was captured in Nangande. He comes from Tanzania and was responsible for the planning, recruitment and radicalization of pro-ISIS jihadists
Mozambique security forces (FADM) arrested one of the top ISCAP leaders in Cabo Delgado. This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of the African country. The man, captured together with his escort in Nangande, was identified with the name of Ali. He is 39 years old and is originally from Tanzania. According to local intelligence, Ali led pro-ISIS jihadist groups in Macomia and Mucojo in 2021. He subsequently ran their bases in Muera and Mocímboa da Praia. Maputo believes that he is a leading figure within the terrorist group, since he was responsible for several tasks: planning the attacks, recruitments and radicalization, probably also in the neighboring nation. The capture of Ali took place during an operation of the FADM in response to a ISCAP attack took place last Sunday, where militants have killed at least five people and destroyed 200 homes.
