Syria, Turkey strengthens its presence in Idlib with a new garrison

Turkey strengthens its presence in Idlib with a new permanent garrison in Jabal Al-Zawiya. Objectives: to improve security on the M4 and control the SAA offensive on Barah, preventing it from going too far north

Turkey extends its presence to Idlib by establishing another military post, this time in Jabal Al-Zawiya. The objective: to improve security along the M4, a joint patrol area with Russia. Especially after the latest jihadist attacks that have wounded Moscow soldiers. Furthermore, it will obstruct the offensive of the Syrian army (SAA) in the south of the province. The Damascus soldiers, in fact, are engaged in a campaign to conquer Barah. The city is strategic, as the main roads to Aleppo and the rest of the Middle Eastern country pass through it. With the garrison, Ankara on the one hand will have more extensive control of what is happening in the quadrant. On the other, it can prevent the regime’s troops from getting too close to the highway. At the moment, however, the war between government forces and militias is at a “distance”, with exchanges of artillery shots.

In the east, meanwhile, Inherent Resolve and SDF focus on tribal leaders against Isis. So far there have been meetings with over 400 sheikhs belonging to the Jabouri, Beggara and Akiadat tribes

In eastern Syria, on the other hand, the special forces of Inherent Resolve and the SDF are engaged in an intense key leader engagement (KLE) activity with all local tribes. Objective: to obtain support in the fight against Isis From Hasaka to Raqqa, passing through Deir Ezzor. So far, in fact, there have been meetings with over 400 sheikhs belonging to the Jabouri, Beggara and Akiadat tribes, as confirmed by a Tweet from the Coalition. In addition, a new road is under construction, which should facilitate trade throughout the region. At the same time, however, the targeted raids to neutralize the cells and the high-profile IS characters continue. The latest occurred a few hours ago in Ghuwairan and led to the capture of some militiamen, on which, however, no details were provided.
