Syria, Turkey is preparing to launch a new operation similar to Peace Spring

Turkey is preparing to launch a new operation similar to Peace Spring. The maneuvers, announced by Erdogan, would be in depth: in Aleppo, Raqqa, Hasaha and when the international community is focused on Ukraine

Turkey is preparing to launch a new mass military operation, similar to Peace Spring in Syria. The difference is that this time the offensive could take place deep in the Middle Eastern country. This was announced by President Recep Tayyp Erdogan, underlining that the maneuvers are aimed at creating safe zones. There are no specific details about the areas involved, but these are believed to be Aleppo, Raqqa Hasaka. All already “hot” due to the repeated clashes between the pro-Ankara militias on the one hand and the Damascus army (SAA) and the Kurdish SDF on the other. If the new operation were to be confirmed, there is a real risk that the entire quadrant will ignite and that a violent conflict of uncertain duration and outcome will break out. Furthermore, international attention is focused on Ukraine following the Russian invasion. Consequently, it would be complex to intervene in a short time to stop the escalation.
