Syria, the women of Idlib take to the streets against HTS

Idlib women take to the streets against HTS. Objective: to stop the wave of arbitrary arrests of opponents and “uncomfortable” people, when the internal war between militias intensifies

Dozens of women took to the streets in Idlib to protest against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and demand the release of their family members, arrested in recent years by militiamen. They did so in various cities of the Syrian province, challenging HTS which had banned the demonstrations, formally for “security” reasons. According to the guerrillas, in fact, the women risked being subjected to acts of violence by “criminals”. The objective, however, failed and in addition to the internal war between militias in Idlib, now HTS has also a new enemy: the women, fed up with the escalation of arbitrary arrests of opponents or “uncomfortable” people in the quadrant. This practice began immediately after the start of internal clashes between the various local groups, with the aim of trying to stem the turbulence in the region and which has recently taken a further leap.
