Syria, the SDF are preparing a targeted anti-Isis operation in Abu Hammam

The SDF and Inherent Resolve are preparing a targeted operation against an important Isis cell in Abu Hammam. Check points up to Kaskiya set up to avoid possible escapes of jihadists

The SDF, in cooperation with Inherent Resolve, are about to launch an important targeted operation against Isis in Deir Ezzor. In the past few hours, in fact, the Arab-Kurdish forces have set up a series of new and sudden checkpoints on the main roads of Abu Hammam and Kashkiya. Objective: to find an IS terrorist cell hiding in the area bordering the Euphrates. No details were given on how many members of the group or their importance. The large military deployment and the wide belt of the dial, however, suggest that it is a precious target. In recent days there had been an activity similar to Shahil, which had led to the arrest of four jihadists and the seizure of numerous computers and documents deemed of great interest by intelligence.

The city is in the center of the area, between Busayrah and Dhiban, most used by IS to infiltrate east of Deir Ezzor

The SDF operation against Isis in Abu Hammam has a precise meaning. The city is in the center of the area (between Busayrah and Dhiban) where jihadists infiltrate east of Deir Ezzor via the Euphrates. The bases of the IS logistic and support networks are located in the towns along the Shaddadi Road. Additionally, it is used by militiamen to escape across the river when enemy raids are in progress. It is no coincidence, in fact, that most of the operations of the Arab-Kurdish forces take place in the quadrant. These act on two axes: on the one hand, they neutralize networks and cells; on the other hand, chasing the leaders of the group with ad hoc task forces and targeted maneuvers.
