Syria, the SAA offensive against militias in Latakia and Idlib intensifies

The Syrian army (SAA) intensifies the offensive against the militias in Latakia and Idlib. The pressure on the rebels, however, is “at a distance” thanks to the Russian drones. On the ground, however, it is stalled

The offensive of the Syrian army (SAA) against the militias between Latakia and Idlib comes alive. In the past few hours, the SAA has targeted rebel posts in Teffahiya, Tilal Raqem, Haddadeh, Kabineh and Aliya, thanks to the coordinates provided by Russian drones. In addition, there have been violent clashes (still ongoing) on the axes of Haddadah and Mezeirbah. In particular against elements of the al-Fateh al-Moubin. Finally, there were exchanges of artillery shells on the lines of Jabal Zawiya and Saraqeb. At the moment, however, the situation is still stalled. The soldiers, who a few days ago had attempted a raid behind enemy lines, are amassing forces in the area but have no longer tried to attack the local jihadists head-on, preferring for now “remote” fighting.

Meanwhile, the SDF in Deir Ezzor arrest provocateurs linked to the protests in Shahil and Hawaij. According to Kurdish forces, they are linked to Damascus and Iran. By taking advantage of Isis’s murder campaign, they were trying to fuel chaos in the Syrian province

Meanwhile, east of Syria, the SDF have announced that they have arrested some elements, which were trying to fuel unrest in Deir Ezzor. They are allegedly people linked to Damascus and the Iranian militias and have confessed their crimes, also providing relevant documentation. By exploiting the campaign of murders of local tribal leaders and senior officials committed by Isis jihadists recently, they aimed to stir up the population against Kurdish forces, especially in Shahil and Hawaij. In addition, they were responsible for several attacks on combatants’ posts in the province, for which some demonstrators were accused. The aim was to develop a campaign of hatred and insecurity, which would weaken the image of the SDF and strengthen that of the government. The attempt, however, was immediately denounced by Kurdish forces who began working with the tribes to restore stability and avoid distractions from the fight against Daesh.
