The Syrian army (SAA) is preparing for a maxi operation against the Islamic State in Badia. Huge reinforcements are on the way to Raqqa, Homs and Deir Ezzor. They will operate simultaneously to avoid isolated units, easy targets for IS
After the last round of Russian strikes against the Islamic State in the Badia desert, the Syrian army (SAA) is preparing to launch a maxi operation on the ground. In the last few hours, Damascus has sent numerous reinforcements from other regions of the country to east of Deir Ezzor, Homs and Raqqa. A convoy of 30 other vehicles arrived from Shia militias further south. Objective: to carry out combings on a large scale in the quadrant, while avoiding the risk that some units may remain isolated and therefore easy targets of ambushes by ex-Isis jihadists. In fact, as soon as the Russian raids end, they resume counterattacking without any hesitation, targeting above all the less protected convoys and patrols. The use of a large force, distributed in various areas should theoretically solve the problem. In the next few hours, however, we will see if the new organization has been effective or not.
