The people of Idlib rebel against Hayat Tahrir al-Sham: violent protest in Atma following the killing of a woman by HTS. Pro al-Qaeda militiamen have pulled too hard on civilians in the Syrian province
The people of Idlib begin to rebel against the continuous and increasing prevarications of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in the Syrian province. Dozens of people organized a protest against HTS in Atma, following the fact that fundamentalists had killed a woman for smuggling fuel during some combings at the Umm al-Shuhada and Sufuhn camps. The people did not just demonstrate, but also attacked the checkpoint of the pro-al Qaeda group in the area, destroying and setting them on fire. The humanitarian situation in Idlib is increasingly serious following the measures imposed by HTS on trade control which have caused the prices of goods to take off and at the same time drastically reduce their availability. As a result, the population was forced to turn to the black market in order to survive. The group, however, also targeted smuggling, further fueling tensions.
