Syria, the Islamic State tries to raise its head in Deir Ezzor

Syria, the Islamic State tries to raise its head in Deir Ezzor. The jihadists tried to attack the SDF HQ in Busayrah

The Islamic State tries to raise its head against the SDF in Deir Ezzor. In the past few hours, a jihadist commando attacked the headquarters of the Arab-Kurdish forces in Busayrah, killing one soldier and wounding another. The IS militiamen, however, were soon rejected and had to flee. Shortly before, another group of terrorists had tried in vain to set up a roadblock near the cultural center of the city. The response of the SDF, supported by Inherent Resolve, was not long in coming. As soon as the attack on the headquarters ended, units of the special forces (HAT) carried out raids on several buildings in the town, arresting some men. In addition, surveillance has been strengthened throughout the area in eastern Syria.

IS in Eastern Syria is increasingly in difficulty thanks to the pressing of the Arab-Kurdish forces and Inherent Resolve on the logistic and support networks of the militiamen

The change of pace of the Islamic State in Deir Ezzor was born because the jihadists today are in great difficulty. The SDF and Inherent Resolve, in fact, have long been targeting the logistical and support networks of the militiamen in the quadrant – especially between Busayrah, Shahil and Dhiban – delivering hard blows. Many IS commanders have been arrested or died. Still others have begun to collaborate with the Arab-Kurdish forces, revealing the routes and hierarchical chains in eastern Syria to the border with Iraq. This has drastically reduced the operational and refueling capacity of the cells, now forced to fight each other in order not to lose “territory” where to draw resources (stealing them from the civilian population) and weight. Not surprisingly, small attacks have multiplied to try to gain a minimum of visibility and, therefore, help from the leadership.
