The Islamic State loses the planner of the attacks on prisons. Ibrahim Al Qahtani was killed in an SDF-Inherent Resolve raid. For the pro-ISIS jihadists it is a hard blow, as they have long been trying to free their imprisoned comrades

The United States have announced the death in Syria of Ibrahim Al Qahtani, a commander of the Islamic State, specialized in planning attacks on prisons where pro-ISIS jihadists are held in the Middle Eastern country. No further details were provided in this regard. Local sources, however, report that the militiaman lost his life during a joint SDF-Inherent Resolve raid, which took place on February 10 near the village of Abo Al-Naital (Deir Ezzor). Al Qahtani’s death is a severe blow to the fundamentalists, who have long been trying to free their fellow prisoners of Kurdish forces in the east of the nation. According to CENTCOM, the US central command for military operations, in fact, there are currently over 10,000 IS terrorists held in detention centers in Syria. Among these is the Al-Sina’a prison (Hasaka), which on 20 January 2022 suffered a violent attack, perhaps planned by Al Qahtani, following which many jihadists and some emirs were freed.
