Syria, the Islamic State loses 170 members in one fell swoop

The Islamic State loses 170 members in one blow in Syria. The SDF and Inherent Resolve “Jazeera Thunderbolt” operation in Tel Hamis, Tel Barak and Al-Hol (Al-Hawl) aims to annihilate the operational capacity of the pro-ISIS jihadists in the area

The Islamic State in Syria has lost at least 170 operatives during a single maxi operation of the SDF and Inherent Resolve, which has just ended. The maneuvers, called “Jazeera Thunderbolt”, saw the participation of about a thousand soldiers of the Kurdish forces and specialized assets of the Coalition. The areas involved were mainly those around Tel Hamis, Tel Barak and Al-Hol (Al-Hawl). Objective: to dismantle the operational and logistical network of the pro-ISIS jihadists in the province of al-Jazeera (Jazira), to undermine the militants’ ability to attack. IS, in fact, taking advantage of the ongoing crisis in Syrian Kurdistan, has recently raised its head in the quadrant, increasing ambushes, attacks and assassinations aimed at targets such as isolated patrols of the SDF, the population and local authorities.
