The SDF and Inherent Resolve launch a large-scale operation against Isis in Deir Ezzor. The maneuvers will take place from the south of Hasaka to Abu Kamal, east of the Euphrates. Objective: to dismantle Islamic State cells across the quadrant
The SDF have launched a new large-scale campaign against Isis in Deir Ezzor. Local sources report it. Objective: to dismantle the cells of the Islamic State between the south of Hasaka and Abu Kamal, on the east bank of the Euphrates. The maneuvers in the province, attended by thousands of Kurdish soldiers and supported by Inherent Resolve, move both on Al-Shaddadi road and inside the territoty. The epicenter should be the area between Busayrah, Shahil and Dhiban, the one traditionally most used by Daesh militiamen to infiltrate the quadrant. The operation had been in preparation for some time. It is no coincidence that in recent days reinforcements had arrived from all Syrian Kurdistan, which began to deploy in strategic locations. Furthermore, four IS jihadists were arrested in Jadeed Ekaydat recently, from whose interrogations the confirmations necessary to start the internal mechanism emerged.
The mechanism was born thanks to the recent capture of several Daesh leaders. The information obtained from their interrogations allowed the Kurdish forces to draw a detailed map of the presence of the jihadists in the quadrant. Finally, final confirmations have arrived with the last arrests
The SDF and Inherent Resolve anti-Isis operation promises to be exceptional. Both for the size of the geographical area involved in the maneuvers and for the deployment of forces deployed. It all seems to have stemmed from the recent capture of some Islamic State leaders in Deir Ezzor, which led to finding others in the Syrian province. Thanks to the interrogations, the Kurdish forces managed to reconstruct the map of the Daesh jihadists in the quadrant and understand what their logistical and support networks were. There were only a few confirmations to start the maneuvers, which came with the arrest of the last four IS elements. At that point, the “green light” arrived and the movements of the fighters began. The operation, however, strangely enough was not preceded by air raid campaigns, as traditionally happens in these cases. Maybe, not to alarm the targets.
