The SDF and Inherent Resolve are systematically dismantling the chain of command and the logistics and support network of the Islamic State in Eastern Syria. The capture of about 130 pro-ISIS jihadists in the “Retaliation For Raqqa Martyrs” operation has allowed Kurdish forces and international partners to acquire fundamental information to trace the leaders of the group and understand its organization. Not surprisingly, several leading formation commanders have been killed in recent days and others have been arrested. These are key men, specialized in planning assaults on prisons and in gathering information useful for launching attacks. The latter two were captured in Raqqa and al-Salhabia in separate YAT raids. No details were provided in this regard, but the extent of the assets used suggests that they were “high value targets”.
