Syria, SDF hit the Islamic State hard in Deir Ezzor

SDF hit the Islamic State hard in Deir Ezzor. The Kurdish forces together with Inherent Resolve capture an alleged leader of the group and dismantle a well financed pro-ISIS jihadist cell

The SDF arrested an alleged leader of the Islamic State in Deir Ezzor. The man was captured in a mixed joined raid with Inherent Resolve in the village of Al-Hajjah, but there are no further details on his identity or on the role held within the group. At the same time, an operation at the village of Al-Lozyia allowed the Kurdish forces to dismantle a pro-ISIS jihadist cell, which planned attacks against the local population. The building in which the militiamen were located was surrounded and they were intimated to surrender. The terrorists, on the other hand, opened fire on the members of the special forces, who responded by killing two. At the end of the clash, two other fundamentalists were caught and many dollars were found in the searches, a sign that the formation was well financed and therefore covered a certain importance within IS in Syria.
