SDF and Inherent Resolve capture a leader of the Islamic State in Deir Ezzor. The man managed the intelligence, planning and execution of pro-ISIS attacks against civilians and Kurdish forces in the region
The Islamic State loses a prominent commander in Deir Ezzor. The man, whose identity was not disclosed, was captured in a raid by the SDF special forces in collaboration with Inherent Resolve in the village of al-Rueishid. The pro-ISIS terrorist managed the intelligence, planning and conduct of jihadist attacks in the Syrian region. The targets were local institutions and Kurdish forces. During the operation, various documents and military uniforms were found, sent to experts for analysis. The previous day, however, the SDF had carried out a similar raid in the area of Al-Hol (Hasaka), arresting the owner of a local exchange office. There is no official confirmation, but it is assumed that the man may have played a role in financing the IS groups operating in the quadrant.
