SAA and Russia strengthen Manbij and Tel Rifaat against the Turkish invasion. Joint air exercises and hundreds of soldiers arriving in the two areas. Moscow cannot afford a war between two strategic partners

The Syrian army (SAA) strengthens its positions in Manbij and Tel Rifaat, sending new troops and vehicles, following the threat of a new military operation by Turkey, which should involve the area. There is talk of at least 500 men and numerous heavy weapons on the way. Russia itself, which in recent days had increased patrol services in the quadrant to reduce attacks by TAF and allied militias, is strengthening its presence. Furthermore, the Moscow and Damascus fighters have just carried out a joint air exercise, simulating a confrontation with hostile aircrafts and drones. Objective: to prepare for a possible header by Recep Tayyp Erdogan, who two weeks ago announced the new offensive in Syria. Russia, however, is closed between two fires. On the one hand, it has good relations with Turkey also for the Ukraine affair. On the other hand, claims Damascus, its main partner in the Middle East, which it cannot do without, especially at a time like this. Consequently, Moscow must do everything to avoid escalation.
