Russia’s new military exercise in Qamishly to block the escalation between the pro-Turkish militias and the TAF on the one hand and the SDF and the Syrian army (SAA) on the other. The maneuvers involve both the air and land components, which are carrying out a series of movements near Ain al-Arab (Kobani) and in particular Abou Sourah and Sareen. The goal is to prevent the parties from coming into contact and that a single possible accident can turn into a real internal conflict with unpredictable outcomes. The Russian ones, however, are the second exercises in the quadrant in a few days, while the Moscow mediators are negotiating with the two counterparts. The Kurdish fighters have already made it known that they do not want a war, but that they will defend themselves if necessary. From the militias and representatives of Ankara, however, so far there are no signs in one direction or the other.
