Osman al-Hussein is the name of the last commander of the Islamic State, captured by the SDF with the support of Inherent Resolve in Syria. The man, a member of a terrorist cell and pro-ISIS jihadist logistician, was flushed out on 2 May in Deir Ezzor. His arrest reduces the offensive capabilities of the militiamen, especially in the context of targeted killings and the organization of safe havens in the quadrant. The capture of al-Hussein and the umpteenth of an IS leader, which took place in the east of the southern country in recent months. The raids, however, have accelerated in the last two months and have led to the neutralization of at least a dozen of the group’s leaders and logisticians. The objectives, in fact, are to destroy the chain of command and the support networks of the fundamentalists.
