Syria, new Islamic State ambush to the SAA between Deir Ezzor and Raqqa

New ambush by the Islamic State to the SAA between Deir Ezzor and Raqqa. The ex ISIS jihadists were trying to take control of the al-Kharatah refinery and were only stopped thanks to the intervention of Russia

The jihadists of the Islamic State have launched a new full-scale attack on the Syrian army (SAA) between Deir Ezzor and Raqqa. The toll was at least seven soldiers and five IS militiamen killed. The battle, which lasted a few hours and was also attended by Russian fighters, took place near the al-Kharatah refinery. There is no official confirmation, but it seems that the ex-ISIS terrorists have tried to approach the facility to take control. The SAA found itself in difficulty, not expecting an ambush and only managed to scare away the enemies thanks to the close air support (CAS) provided by Russia. Yet another raid confirms that the strategy of Damascus and Moscow against the fundamentalists in the Badia desert is not working. The ambushes, in fact, instead of being reduced are on the rise throughout the quadrant.
