Syria, ISIS militants in Baghuz Fawqani flee in tunnels for the last defense

The ISIS militants in Baghuz Fawqani try a desperate move: they fall back to the tunnels for the last defense against the SDF. Meanwhile, Jazeera Storm and the International Coalition are still increasing the pressure on the Islamic State

The ISIS militants in Baghuz Fawqani attempt a last desperate move: they fall back in mass to the few tunnels not yet destroyed. The goal is to try to resist as much as possible against the SDF and the International Coalition. The Syrian fighters, in fact, are eliminating at a distance the jihadists of the Islamic State thanks to snipers and artillery. Inherent Resolve fighters, on the other hand, point to the network of underground tunnels and Daesh fire stations in the tent city area. Furthermore, all IS counterattack attempts at Deir Ezzor failed. Many even before they could reach the target. As a result, the only alternative left to the diehards was to escape underground. But this situation will not last long. The terrorists no longer have resources and are short of ammunition and men. Sources in the Arab-Kurd forces say that the maneuvers could end this week.

Another 500 Daesh jihadists surrender to the SDF. In the past 24 hours, between 1,500 and 2,000 IS extremists gave up to Jazeera Storm

Meanwhile, mass surrenders to the SDF among ISIS ranks in Baghuz Fawqani continue. In the last hours about 500 militiamen of the Islamic State gave up to Jazeera Storm. Many of them are foreign fighters from different countries. The Syrian fighters, after carrying out all the necessary checks, transported them to their headquarters in Deir Ezzor. It is only the last part of a much larger group that in the past 24 hours has hoisted the white flag. The Arab-Kurdish forces speak of a number between 1,500 and 2,000 jihadists (among which there are also families), which is added to the more than 4,000 terrorists already in the custody of the SDF. In addition to these there are also all the fundamentalists arrested these days while trying to escape into the Middle Euphrates River Valley (MERV) towards Idlib or Iraq.
