The pro-Iran militias in Deir Ezzor continue to recruit the local population to join their ranks. A group of 85 volunteers from the Syrian province in recent days was transferred to Mayadeen, where some bases of Tehran’s allied groups are located, for a one-month training course in the al-Mazare area. The lessons covered from the basic notions of guerrilla warfare to the use of light and medium weapons, in particular machine guns but not only. In return, the recruits will receive a monthly salary of around 40 euros, as well as access to free medical care and food rations. All cadets, once the training is complete, will join the local branch of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). A first group, however, had already graduated in mid-May. There are about ten men, already sent to various destinations in the quadrant.
