Syria, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) creates its own private army

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) creates its own private army. The Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib Brigade should include all the allied militias. Objective: to have more control over the sub-groups in Idlib and Aleppo to avoid surprises

Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) has created a new military unit in Idlib: the Hamza bin Abdul Muttalib Brigade. According to local sources, this will manage all the operations on the ground of the pro-al Qaeda group. The members will come from the military school established by the formation, whose access criteria for recruits seem to be based on stringent rules linked to both physical and psychological condition and morals. The goal is to build a force of loyalists that does not question the choices of the political leadership of HTS and that includes all the local allied militias, in order to avoid friction and clashes between the various souls. Idlib and Aleppo, in fact, in the last year have been the scene of real battles between formally allied groups who competed for control of the territory and the distribution of the increasingly scarce resources granted by Turkey.
