Syria, Damascus is having problems against Daesh at Deir Ezzor and Ghouta

Daesh is pushing west of Deir Ezzor against the Syrian army (SAA) to take back Mayadeen. Furthermore, at Ghouta, they control Al-Yarmouk from where they launch missiles on Damascus

Daesh in Syria continues attacking the army of Damascus (SAA) at Deir Ezzor, in an effort to conquer Mayadeen. In the last hours, Isis militiamen carried out an ambush against units of the SAA in the area, causing losses and damages to the militaries. Furthermore, the soldiers are not succeeding in chasing out the Islamic State from Abu Kamal (Al Bukamal), so that the group is strengthening to the point that it is ruling again in some of the areas. A confirmation comes from the numerous arrests of civilians in the quadrant, made by jihadists. These have probably reestablished control patrols in the area, searching for collaborators, suspected spies and violators of the rules imposed. The city on the border with Iraq was never completely conquered by the regular forces, cos distracted by the operation at Ghouta. Operation which was not even resolved. IS, notwithstanding the massive deployment of means and forces, still controls the refugee camp of al-Yarmouk, from where every day they fire rockets on the capital.

The return of the SDF at Deir Ezzor has forced the Islamic State to escape towards west of the Euphrates and to attack the weakest enemy: the SAA. Objective, recreate the Wilayat al-Khayr

Damascus decided to postpone the definitive conquer of the area south and south west (the Hamad desert) of Deir Ezzor to the next months. Leaving fixed military posts in the quadrant. These, however, are constantly being attacked by the Daesh but are not receiving reinforcements from the Syrian central authorities. So they can’t advance but only manage to maintain appropriate lines of defense against the Islamic State. Moreover, they are even more assiduously targeted, since the return of the SDF in the region. The Kurdish led forces, in fact, have resumed the offensive against Isis in the province, offensive which had been frozen while they were busy defending Afrin from the Turkish forces and their allies of Olive Branch. Once the campaign was over, however, the pressing on IS mainly at Hajin, Dashisha e Shaddadi was implemented again. As a consequence, the jihadists crossed the Euphrates and were able to concentrate in the west against a weaker enemy and attempt to recreate the Wilayat al-Khayr.
