Somali security forces have foiled a large complex attack by al-Shabaab in Somalia against a military base of ATMIS, the AU mission in the African country. Addis Ababa soldiers say they killed at least 462 jihadists last weekend as part of clashes in Rabdhure. The offensive involved the use of twelve suicide bombers and three car bombs along with hundreds of militiamen, but Somali troops intervened first, blocking the operation before it took place. Al-Shabaab still tried to exploit the event, spreading false information on its propaganda platforms about an assault near the border with Ethiopia that would have cost the lives of 178 ATMIS soldiers, but the real toll was the opposite . Furthermore, at the end of the maneuvers, a careful search of the area was carried out and, according to local intelligence, material of great interest was found and immediately sent to analysts.
