Libya, tension skyrocket in Tripoli and Misrata after the clash between militias

Tension skyrocket in Tripoli and Misrata after the clash between militias. Military build up for Dbeibah and Bashagha factions. Each fears sudden actions by the opponent

In Libya there is a sudden build up of military forces in Tripoli. The formal cause is the recent clash between local militias in various districts of the capital, which caused dozens of deaths before stopping thanks to a mediation. In reality, however, Abdul Hamid Dbeibah’s Government of National Unity (GNU) fears a possible coup attempt by Fathi Bashagha’s men. The latter, on the other hand, wants to prevent the opponent’s troops from extending their influence in the city and taking control of strategic places. As a result, each of the two counterparts is strengthening their defenses, fearing sudden actions by the opponent. Tension is skyrocketing both in Tripoli and Misrata, while from Benghazi they are carefully watching the evolution of events to evaluate any possibility of taking advantage of them.
