Iraq, US twart an attack on the anniversary of Soleimani’s death

An attack on the US in Iraq for the anniversary of Soleimani’s death foiled. The US military neutralizes armed drones sent by pro-Iran militias against a base at Baghdad airport to avenge the general and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis

Pro-Iran militias in Iraq remember the deaths of General Qasem Soleimani and their commander Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis on January 3, 2020, seeking revenge on the United States. They did so by sending some armed drones against a military base at Baghdad airport. The UAVs, however, were fortunately all intercepted and shot down before they reached their target. According to photos posted by Hashd al-Shaabi (PMF) militias within their Telegram channels, on the drones there was the phrase “Soleimani’s revenge”. The aggression was stopped without problems, following the fact that the US military expected it and prepared to face it. In recent days, in fact, security measures had been strengthened at all the bases where the Inherent Resolve contingent operates. Both against bomb attacks and remote attacks, such as missiles and rockets or the drones.
