Iraq, ISF anti-Isis operation started in Anbar

The ISF have launched a targeted operation against Isis in Wadi Hauran. Objective: to neutralize the large cell of the Islamic State, which has just attacked the PMU en masse

The ISF have launched a targeted operation against Isis at Wadi Hauran in the province of Anbar. Objective: to annihilate a large cell of the Islamic State, which is hiding in the region and which only a few hours ago attacked the Hashd al-Shaabi Shiite paramilitary militia (PMU) en masse. The Iraqi military intervened with the eighth airborne division, which followed in the footsteps of the jihadists in search of their lairs. So far, some weapons and ammunition depots have already been discovered and destroyed. The anti-Daesh maneuvers are still ongoing and no precise date has been set for their conclusion. Similar raids have also been organized in Makhmour, one of the areas most infested by IS terrorists in the Middle Eastern country.

In parallel, Baghdad strengthens surveillance on the borders between Iraq and Syria, especially in the north west, to prevent infiltration of Daesh jihadists

Meanwhile, the ISF continue to strengthen surveillance on Iraq’s borders with Syria, especially in the north west, to prevent ISIS infiltrations. Islamic State jihadists have long been trying to create safe passageways between the two countries. This is because the SDF and Inherent Resolve have increased the pressure on them and consequently try to take refuge in safe areas. In fact, the Daesh threat is growing in Iraq, particularly in Kirkuk and Diyala. Many of the IS terrorists hiding in the desert areas of Anbar have moved here, to try to regroup and raise their heads, taking advantage of the freeze of the operations of the US-led Coalition and of the protests, which distract the Iraqi security forces.
