The Combined Maritime Forces have a new Task Force: the CTF 154. It will take care of the training in Middle East and will be led by Captain Oliver Herion, a veteran of the formation. The activities will be based on 5 pillars
The Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) have a new Task Force: the CTF 154. It has just been presented and will be in charge of training on Maritime Security in the Middle East. In particular, it will focus on five pillars: awareness, laws, interdictions, rescue and assistance, and leadership development. Its first commander will be US Captain Oliver Herion is a veteran of education, having previously led units such as Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Training and Evaluation Unit (EODTEU) 2 and Task Group Six Eight Point One (CTG 68.1). CTF 154 joins the four already operational, each of which is responsible for a specific maritime area or issue: CTF 150 (Gulf of Oman and Indian Ocean), CTF 151 (anti-piracy), CTF 152 (Arabian Gulf) and CTF 153 (Red Sea and Gulf of Aden). Manama, on the other hand, hosts the headquarters of the Combined Maritime Forces, in which 38 countries participate, including Italy.
