Cybercrime, new global sextortion scam campaign

Technical analysis by the Malware Hunter JAMESWT

New global sextortion scam campaign. The bait is always the same: the data and a video on the victim watching porn sites, which will not be published if a ransom is paid. It is all false

New global sextortion campaign targeting users in different countries. The text of the email is similar to those circulated in recent months and refers to an alleged hacker who would have sneaked into the victim’s computer and stole compromising material, including videos and evidence of the user watching porn sites.

The cyber criminal, whom he defines as a “professional programmer”, therefore asks for $ 1,350 in Bitcoin within a short period of time in order not to spread the contents he has available. Obviously, this is all false. The author of the message does not have any sensitive data of the potential victim, except the email address. He only tries to exploit the elements of possible embarrassment and urgency to steal money from the recipients. You absolutely must not pay, but simply report the attempted scam to the police.
