Cybercrime, new attack on online porn: webcam model data stolen

VpnMentor: 20 Giga data leak for PussyCash and its network all over the world, including Italy. Cybercrime steal highly sensitive personal data from over 4,000 webcam models and online porn chats

Cybercrime still attacks the world of adult sites. Cyber security researchers from vpnMentor have discovered a massive data theft, which has affected PussyCash and its network worldwide. There are almost 20 gigabytes of sensitive personal data of over 4,000 models. Names and surnames, date of birth and nationality, documents and fingerprints. The countries involved are many, including Italy. PussyCash, in fact, has affiliate programs with many “Cam” and chat sites. So much so that the galaxy has about 66 million registered members. At the beginning it was thought that the data leak was extremely limited. Then, however, it was found that the company owned the compromised Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) bucket. According to estimates, at least 875,000 keys have been stolen, represented by various types of files. From videos to screenshots, to chat recording, to zip archives (one for each model).

In past years PornHub and Xvideos had been targeted. The cyber security of the sector is at an all-time low. It is less expensive to open new sites than to protect them

The cybercrime data leak related to the galaxy of adult webcam and chat sites is just the latest chapter in a series of attacks against the world of online porn. In 2017 millions of PornHub users were infected with malware and last year Xvideos users were blackmailed with sextortion attempts. Hitting this type of target is easy and very paying. On the first front, in fact, cyber security in the sector is at an all-time low. Protecting the privacy of their customers is not a priority for owners. If any site is punctured or closed, simply open a new one to start making big profits again. On the second, however, those who use these contents are often afraid of being discovered from the outside and therefore of suffering heavy damage to reputation and credibility. Consequently, it tends to pay immediately and not to report extortion.
