There is a new DDoS-for-hire service in the wild: 0x-booter, powered by the Bushido botnet and run by ZullSec. Using it costs from $20 to 150

There is a new DDoS-for-hire service in the wild: it’s dubbed 0x-booter and it’s powered by the Bushido botnet. It has been discovered by the FortiGuard Labs cyber security experts. It allows users to launch different cyber attacks, primarily at the Transport and Application layers. The prices for the service range from $20 to $150. It depends on various parameters, including the number of attacks, the duration, and customer support offered by the operators. In practise allows also wannabes to target websites, exploiting the botnet firepower (500 gbps of power and 20,000 bots). This thanks to an easy web user interface. Bushido is run by a group called ZullSec, and it was first spotted by the security researchers at MalwareMustDie, the same that discovered the Mirai botnet. The new botnet, in fact, is an evolution of the original one. But with more capabilities and options.

FortiGuard Labs: The 0x-booter website was based on another booter/ stresser called Ninjaboot. The Bushido botnet still borrows a lot of its code from Mirai. ZullSec to test it’s power attacked the Brazilian political party website of the new president Jair Bolsonaro with more than 500 Gbps

According to FortiGuard Labs, also the DDoS-for-hire service is based on another one. “After analysing both the website and the botnet, we discovered that the codes used have been copy-pasted from an open source and modified for their own purposes,” thecyber security experts found. “In fact, the 0x-booter website was based on another booter/ stresser called Ninjaboot, the source code of which was leaked in hacking forums last year. Even though the Bushido botnet has its own name, it still borrows a lot of its code from Mirai and is still considered a fork of Mirai.” Moreover the “0x-booter” service has already been advertise on the ZullSec Facebook page, starting from October 17. And in the last hours, the group demonstrated it’s power, attacking the Brazilian political party website of the new president Jair Bolsonaro with more than 500 Gbps.
