The China develops a new cyber defense system that “changes the game”

In China the new “game-changing” Cyber Mimic Defense (CMD) defeated 22 hackers from 5 countries

The China has developed a new cyber defense system that “changes the game”. It has been unveiled to the world for the first time in occasion of the Qiangwang International Elite Challenge on Cyber Mimic Defense (CMD) in Nanjing. The competition saw 22 white-hate and ethical hackers from five countries challenge the new system with dirreferent kind of cyber-attacks, but it defeated them. The news has been reported by ECSN.cn. The group tried different methods as digging holes, creating backdoors, planting viruses, hiding a Trojan horse and others. But all of them proved ineffective. “This is the first time using the CMD system as the ‘target machine’ in the world,” said Wu Jiangxing, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in Beijing and founder of the theory of CMD, a proactive system whose randomness increases the difficulty attacks based on vulnerability and backdoors.

The founder of the theory of CMD: It will strengthen national cybersecurity and offer a way to build a healthy global cyberspace with a shared future

“The CMD, as a game-changing technology, will strengthen national cybersecurity and offer a way to build a healthy global cyberspace with a shared future,” Wu told the Global Times on Saturday. The system however still needs testing. But can be expected it could be used in different fields in China including finance, electricity and high-speed railways. The aim is to protect the critical infrastructures from cyber-attacks of different nature and intensity. As soon as possible, the Cyber Mimic Defense will start a period of tests “on the ground”. The CMD will be linked with different systems to understand it’s adaptability and capability to interact with other platforms in protecting the cybersecurity of the environment.
