On one hand, the Anons hack the websites of banks, institutions and the regime media; on the other, they provide valuable aid to the demonstrators and Tehran is unable to stop them.
LockerGoga victims now have a free decryptor. It has been developed by Swiss authorities with NoMoreRansom project and Bitdefender cybersecurity experts. Soon it could arrive also one for MegaCortex
Victims of the LockerGoga ransomware now can recover their files for free, thanks to a decryption tool available via the NoMoreRansom project. The malware targeted several organizations until 2019, as Norsk Hydro, Hexion and Momentive. According to Swiss law enforcement, the cybercrime actor conducted attacks against over 1,800 individuals and organizations in 71 countries, causing losses of more than $100 million. Furthermore, he is believed to be part of a ring that also used the MegaCortex ransomware in attacks. The ransomware operator was arrested in October 2021 in a joint operation between Europol, the Norwegian Police, and law enforcement agencies in Ukraine and Switzerland. Swiss authorities seized some data during a house search, included private keys from the attacks. Working together with the NoMoreRansom project and cybersecurity firm Bitdefender, they released a free decryptor for LockerGoga, and are planning the release of a MegaCortex decryption tool as well.
